Lust Stories 2 movie tries to explore dark and unconventional ideas in the format of short stories, much like any anthology should. The intention is clear, but the execution once again suffers from a familiar problem—when sex becomes the dominant element, storytelling often takes a back seat.

Take 365 Days for example. Despite being an erotic film, it still runs for over two hours, and without a strong narrative, it becomes exhausting to sit through. It remains one of the most pointless films ever made. To be clear, Lust Stories 2 does not fall into that category. However, it follows the same pattern seen in many sex-driven films, where the story is never the main attraction.

Several segments had genuine potential, but a lack of refinement and depth stopped them from becoming truly impactful. Here’s a quick breakdown of the four stories featured in Lust Stories 2:

Last Store 2 Movie – Directed by R. Balki

This segment revolves around Neena Gupta’s character and plays out almost exactly as shown in the trailer. As her granddaughter’s wedding is being arranged and the family discusses compatibility, the grandmother raises an uncomfortable yet bold question—whether the couple has been physically intimate to ensure sexual compatibility.

The idea is progressive and well-intentioned, and the message is easy to understand. However, the argument lacks strength and emotional weight. At certain moments, the character’s obsession with the topic feels exaggerated. Ultimately, the story has a straightforward arc and ends with the young couple proving their compatibility, which satisfies the grandmother and leads her to approve the marriage.

Last Store 2 Movie – Directed by Konkona Sen Sharma

This is the most puzzling story in the anthology. While it is completely valid to acknowledge that women can have strong and even unconventional sexual fantasies, this segment feels more confusing than compelling. Perhaps it’s best experienced without trying too hard to interpret it.

Starring Tillotama Shome and Amruta Subash, the story focuses on a lonely corporate professional and her house help. After accidentally witnessing her house help being intimate with her husband in her own bedroom, the protagonist becomes increasingly drawn to the situation. Over time, she begins returning home from work just to watch the couple together.

Eventually, the house help realizes what is happening and silently accepts it. There is a minor twist later on, but essentially the story revolves around voyeurism and suppressed desire. Whether it feels bold or simply uncomfortable is entirely up to the viewer.

Last Store 2 Movie – Directed by Sujoy Ghosh

Despite the hype surrounding Tamannaah Bhatia and Vijay Varma, this story turns out to be the weakest of the lot. It hints at an interesting premise but fails to deliver, largely due to forced intimate scenes that distract from the narrative.

Vijay Varma’s character meets with an accident and later reunites with his missing ex-wife in a new town. From the beginning, his character is portrayed as unsettling. As their relationship rekindles, it becomes clear that something is off. The story attempts a supernatural twist, but it lacks the impact needed to leave a lasting impression read more.

Story 4 – Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma

This is easily the strongest and most well-constructed story in the series. It understands the essence of short storytelling and delivers an effective twist without unnecessarily forcing sexual elements.

Kajol plays a woman trapped in an abusive marriage with Kumud Mishra’s character. In a desperate attempt to escape her situation, she brings home an HIV-positive sex worker from her past, fully aware of her husband’s uncontrollable desires. The plan unfolds as expected, but the conclusion takes a disturbing and unexpected turn that elevates the story.

Overall Verdict

When judged on writing, direction, and performances, Lust Stories 2 fails to stand out as a strong anthology. With OTT platforms placing limits on explicit content, the focus should have shifted more toward compelling storytelling—but that opportunity was largely missed.

In the absence of both bold storytelling and meaningful intimacy, the series struggles to leave an impact. Whether Lust Stories 2 is worth your time this weekend is a decision best left to you.
